GoodNight
GoodNight for iPhone

Privacy policy

Last updated 9 August 2026

The app collects no personal data, sends nothing anywhere, and has no account, no analytics and no advertising. This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers.

This policy covers the GoodNight iPhone app and this website, goodnight.irony.dev. Both are made by Yaniv Ironi, an individual developer. You can reach me at goodnight@irony.dev.

If you email me, I will have your email address and whatever you write in it, and I will use it only to reply to you. That is the entirety of the personal data involved anywhere in GoodNight.

What the app stores, and where

The app keeps a small amount of information so that it can work at all:

  • Your first name, if you give one, and your bedtime and wake time.
  • What you said keeps you up, which is used to weight which routines you are offered.
  • Preferences such as text size and haptics.
  • A history of sessions: which routine, how long, and how you said you felt after.
  • A local diagnostic marker recording which routine was on screen, used to tell you afterwards if the app stopped unexpectedly.

All of it is written to ordinary files inside the app’s private storage on your iPhone. None of it is transmitted, backed up to a server of mine, or shared with anyone. There is no server of mine.

What the app does not do

  • It does not make network requests, so it cannot send your data anywhere.
  • It has no accounts, logins or profiles.
  • It contains no analytics, crash-reporting, attribution or advertising SDKs.
  • It does not track you across apps or websites, and it asks for no tracking permission.
  • It does not read your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, location or health data. The permission prompts for those never appear because the app never asks.
  • It sells nothing to anyone, and it never will.

Deleting your data

Settings contains a Delete my data option that erases everything listed above, including any diagnostic record. Deleting the app from your iPhone removes it all as well. Because none of it ever reaches me, there is nothing for me to delete on your behalf and nothing for me to hand over if asked.

Apple

If you install the app from the App Store, Apple handles the download and any future purchase, and Apple collects its own information about that under Apple’s privacy policy. Apple may show me aggregate, anonymous statistics such as download counts and crash summaries in App Store Connect. I never receive anything from Apple that identifies an individual user.

This website

The site is a handful of static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party scripts, fonts or images, and has no forms. As with any web host, Cloudflare processes basic request data such as IP address in the course of delivering the page and protecting it from abuse; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. I do not have access to a per-visitor record of it.

If you email me

Mail to goodnight@irony.dev is forwarded to a personal Gmail account and stored there. I use it to answer you and to keep track of bug reports and feature requests, and I do not add you to any mailing list or share your address. Ask me to delete a message thread and I will.

Children

GoodNight is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal data from anyone of any age.

Your rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete and port the personal data a company holds about you, and to object to it being sold. I hold none, so there is nothing to produce, correct or erase — other than an email thread if you started one. Write to me and I will confirm that in writing if you need it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will not be applied retroactively to data already on your device — which, again, has never been anywhere else.

Not medical advice. GoodNight is a relaxation and wind-down aid. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you have persistent sleep problems, please talk to a doctor.
